Glock 19 Vs 17 Magazine - We often hear the word "revolution" in connection with new products in the gun world. However, the number of actual guns modified by the firearms industry is very small.
When Glock introduced the G17, it changed everything we knew about handguns. The company is quickly following up with its younger sibling, the Glock 19. There are differences (and not so subtle ones) between the two guns. In this article, we'll take a look at them and see how they stack up against each other.
Glock 19 Vs 17 Magazine
Gaston Glock designed the Glock Model 17 in the early 1980s as a candidate for the new Austrian 9mm military pistol. It's not the first production rifle to use a polymer frame (that honor goes to the H&K VP70), and it's not the first pistol used at a crime scene. The genius of the Glock 17 was how it took these elements and combined them into a lightweight, easy-to-maintain gun that was simple and accurate.
What's The Difference Between Glock 17, Glock 19, & Glock 26
The Model 19 was the third Glock pistol produced. (The Model 18 is a version of the 17 with automatic fire selection for the Australian counter-terrorism unit). It takes all the functions and features of the Glock 17 and slims them down, making it a compact and easy-to-carry gun.
As mentioned above, Glock originally produced the Model 17l for the Austrian Army. As such, they were intended to be worn by soldiers on the scene. Its accuracy, rigidity and lightness have made it a popular choice for people. But they wanted a small pistol that could shoot a lot of shots.
Over the years, Glock has updated the design of its pistols. They've added features like text holders and finger holes for a better grip, as well as adjustable back straps to fit your wrist. The latest Gen 5 models also got a bit of a facelift on the interior. We took a look at the Gen 4 Model 17 and Model 19 for comparison. Both have proven to be consistent, reliable performers for civilians, military personnel and law enforcement.
There are a few differences between the Glock 17 and the Glock 19 in your hand. The guns feel largely the same, but the Model 19 has a slightly shorter stock.
Exploded View: Glock 19 Gen5
Both guns are the same width (1.26 inches) and are the same distance from the rear of the slide to the removed port. The Gen 4 Model 17 and Model 19 both have interchangeable backstraps, but the Model 17's backstrap will not fit the Model 19 and vice versa. The Glock 19 in our photos is my own Model 19. Unlike the Model 17, it has a small extended backstrap at the top of the slide.
The two pistols are also different in length. A standard Glock 17 magazine holds 17 rounds, while a Glock 19 magazine holds 15 rounds. At 5.47 inches, the Model 17's body is half an inch shorter than the Model 19's 5.04. The Model 17 weighs 32.3 ounces installed. The smaller model 19 weighs 23.6 ounces.
The barrel and slide length is where we see the biggest difference between the Glock 17 and the Glock 19. The Gen 4 Model 17 has a slide length of 7.32 inches and a barrel length of 4.49 inches. The Glock 19 has a slide length of 6.85 inches and a barrel length of 4.02 inches.
Since the barrel and slide lengths are different, the recoil springs are not interchangeable between the two. However, all fire control parts of the frame are interchangeable between the two weapons.
Sgm Tactical Glock 17/19/26/34 Magazine, 9mm, 33 Rounds
We tested the accuracy of the Glock 17 and Glock 19 using three types of commonly available 9mm ammunition:
Both guns fire at 15 yards from a rest position. Using a ProChrono Digital Chronograph mounted outside the grip of each pistol, we tested average velocity and average ball size. During the test, the temperature was 85 degrees and the humidity was 85 percent.
The heavier weight of the Glock 17 made it more manageable than the Glock 19. But both pistols performed excellently in our accuracy tests. The longer barrel of the Glock 17 allows more powder to burn in the cartridge still in the barrel of the gun. This resulted in slightly higher muzzle velocities for the Glock 17 and Glock 19.
Since its military debut, the Glock 17 has found a home among law enforcement officers around the world. Weighing in at over two pounds, it changed what a service pistol could be.
Glock 19 Gen 4 Vs Gen 5
However, the Glock 17 was never intended for concealment. The length of the 17-year-old model means that the pistol's muzzle protrudes slightly from the holster. This makes it difficult to hide. In recent years, the rise in popularity of the waist belt (AIWB) has fueled interest in using the Glock 17 as a concealed carry weapon. The long gun is comfortable to carry in that position.
With 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition in its magazine, four-inch barrel, efficient trigger and compact size, the Glock 19 is one of the best concealed carry pistols. It's easy to conceal, has an incredible variety of accessories, and has a reputation for reliability unmatched by most other handguns on the market.
However, the two extra rounds in the Glock 17 give it slightly more firepower than the Glock 19. The Glock 17's slightly longer slide (and therefore longer sight radius) also gives the Glock 17 an edge. small and precise.
It all depends on what you are looking for. If you want a handgun for home defense, you'll be hard-pressed to find anything better than the Glock 17. This is a gun that performs well in shooting competitions as well. For everyday concealed carry, practice and training, the Glock 19 is the standard by which all other 9mm compact pistols are judged. Either way, you get a reliable, accurate pistol that has been a market leader for decades.

So I know that after I post this comment, I'm going to get a lot of angry emails from people who say I've been scammed. I want to answer those people before I go on, saying that I know the "best gun" is always the best for you.
If you want to shoot at 17 or 19, good for you. Ultimately, having a gun that works for you will make you a better shooter.
But I'm just going to come out and say it - the Glock 19 is better in my opinion. Both the Glock 17 and 19 are excellent guns using the latest materials and simple and reliable designs.

In addition, the weapon is very similar. Both take 9mm cartridges, both are made from high-quality composites of steel and polymer, and both are trusted by police and military forces around the world.
