The Glock 17's younger brothers, the Glock 19 and Glock 26, are both follow-up pistols that followed their successful predecessors, but they weren't conceived in the same way or with the same goal in mind. 12/15/17/19/33 Weight (Ounces Unloaded) 21.16 19.75 26 Point Glock 19 & Glock 19 & Glock 26 & Glock 26 Super Custom Guns Many Factors In Owning And Specifically Guns Compared To These Two How Much what is perceived comes down to subjective preferences. For example, the Glock 19 was designed as a more compact version of the Glock 17, and it is exactly that. In its time, the Glock 19 pushed the envelope in terms of the pistol's compact size, making it an ideal choice for concealed carry. However, the Glock 26 came along and introduced an even more striking difference in size between it and the Glock 19 than existed between the Glock 19 and the Glock 17. This can be compared to the evolution of smartphone screen sizes - initially, the screen size was in 3-4 inch range, with anything larger being considered excessively large. Nowadays, new "phablets" have screens in the 4-inch range - proving that standards, tastes and preferences do evolve over time. The Glock 26, with its smaller form factor, is a more ideal option for concealed carry, though the Glock 19 represents a good middle ground between the compact and modern full-size versions. The Glock 19 uses a larger sight radius, which is better for accuracy, due to the longer barrel compared to the Glock 26. Additionally, the Glock 19 is convenient because it has the most support in terms of modifications and accessories. Any Glock pistol, and it has a large standard magazine size, which is naturally advantageous. The Glock 19 also has a handy Picatinny accessory rail, while the Glock 26 has a distinctive bevel on the front of the slide that reloads the gun. With the extended mag, the Glock 26 can essentially become a Glock 19, making for roughly the same size gun that carries the same amount of ammunition. A Glock 19 can never "become" a Glock 26 - it can't go back in size. Disadvantages of the Glock 19 and Glock 26 Super Compact As much as it needs to be rehashed, what gun owners like or dislike about their firearm comes down largely to subjective opinion. Gun owners come in all shapes and sizes with different qualities they look for when they go "gun shopping." The Glock 26's limited ammo capacity is one of the only objective drawbacks to either of these pistols—no one wants a small mag, but that's the price the Glock 26 pays in exchange for its extremely compact factor. As for the size, whether or not the small size is a "con" again comes down to the individual gun user. The smartest thing for a potential buyer to do is to go to a range and try out the two firearms that they are most comfortable holding and shooting. Some people find a larger grip more comfortable, while some people with smaller hands prefer a smaller grip. This is why the Glock 26 has become popular among female shooters. In terms of concealed carry, some will find that the Glock 19 conceals well, while others will prefer the smaller form factor of the Glock 26 – again, your results may vary. The bottom line is one of the reasons Glock makes and sells a variety of pistols, as opposed to just one "all-purpose" pistol. Yes, there is money to be made in selling different guns, but the truth is that not all gun owners are the same – they can actually be quite different. Depending on needs and preferences regarding size, ammunition, concealed carry and more, some may choose the Glock 19 and some the Glock 26. Any Glock pistol owner would be best served by trying each of these pistols. The best way to find out which gun you prefer—for yourself—before making any purchasing decisions is to try them both.
